THANKS STEREOGUM! Oh, but I didn’t get you anything :-(
Greg Kihn - For You (by TotalMusicGeek1)
Good cover. Retains the sentiment of the song, changes the mood. Sounds more like Tom Petty or The Eagles.
from springsteenlyrics.com:
The above lyrics are for Greg Kihn’s cover version of FOR YOU. He released it on his 1977 album Greg Kihn Again. Kihn’s version of the song has some of the lyrics edited-out and features a more punched-up arrangement. This got the attention of Springsteen who gave it favorable comments.
Besides Springsteen, Kihn was the first to record FOR YOU and the only to release it before the eighties. He also recorded two other Springsteen tracks: the previously unreleased RENDEZVOUS in 1979 andTHUNDER ROAD in 1998.
Well, then. This is a nice surprise. Now, cue the avalanche of OMG YES!

Hand Covers Bruise (HD) - From the Soundtrack to “The Social Network”
I’m not really sure why, but I’m really digging this song right now. I think part of it is the drone in the background, the beautiful “noise”. I read about the sound synthesizer used to create it (the Swarmatron) in last week’s New Yorker. But also, the specific notes and their timing are comforting in some way.

I didn’t know this song until an amazing person entered into my life and gifted it to me. It has been, without fail, on my weekly playlist ever since.
